Mansfield Town Centre

Mansfield’s history is legendary. A plaque on West Gate in the town centre marks the historic centre of Sherwood Forest, once home to the infamous outlaw Robin Hood.

Mansfield is now a bustling market town that boasts an array of smaller independent shops and larger high street stores, with a boom of cafes and coffee shops opening within the town centre. From Thai food to Italian cuisine, and from Turkish kebabs to traditional Sunday pub roasts, there is a multitude of offerings in Mansfield.

The city of Nottingham is just 14 miles away and Clumber Park, Newstead Abbey, Cresswell Crags, and of course, The Major Oak where Robin Hood is said to have hidden from the Sherrif of Nottingham are all close by.

Nottingham is a fine city. Modern, world-leading universities and industries that push the boundaries in innovation sit alongside a heritage that is to be proud of.

The city centre is easily accessible via public transport such as the tram and train, and it boasts a range of shops and services, theatres and eateries..

Then there’s the Test Match cricket ground, the homes of Nottingham Forest and Notts County, or the tennis centre, the ice hockey arena and the National Watersports Centre.

And, of course, London is a short train ride away – and could be quicker if and when the HS2 high-speed rail line is built.
